September: Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

September marks Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and Spartan Sword kicked it off in a big way when Spartan Sword volunteer, Aaron Clark brought the Sword out from it’s residency in NYC to the John D. Dingell Veterans Administration Medical Center in Detroit Michigan. The John D. Dingell VA Medical Center serves the health care needs of nearly 350,000 Veterans living in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and St. Clair counties, roughly 44% of the Veteran population of Michigan’s lower peninsula. Aaron was invited by an attending Pastor, Leslie A. Rutland-Tipton, and it turned out to be a milestone event in which the entire staff were completely impressed with the sword and all we do with it. They now wish to make this an annual event and are thinking of ways in which the VA might share the Spartan Pledge and Sword around the country.

Thank you to our donors who helped make this happen.
